Cosmetic breast surgery

The breasts are an essential and highly sensitive area of the female body; they are widely considered a symbol of femininity and attractiveness. As a result, many women want the look of their breasts to harmonize with the rest of their bodies. Plastic surgery can be used to change the size and shape of the breasts. There are two main methods of breast augmentation: augmentation using implants and augmentation using the body’s own (autologous) fat. Breast lifts can be used to improve breast firmness and position, creating a more balanced figure. Women who consider their breasts too large can benefit from breast reduction surgery.

Reconstructive procedures

In addition to cosmetic breast surgery, my clinic’s core competencies also include female breast reconstruction. Individual quadrants of the breast may be missing or underdeveloped due to hereditary malformations, accidents, or medical treatments (e.g., breast cancer therapy); some cancer patients need to have part or all of one or both breasts removed. Breast reconstruction encompasses a variety of options for correcting developmental defects or modeling new breasts. The goal of breast reconstruction is to give patients natural-looking breasts that help them feel whole and happy in their own skin.

The male chest

Of course, women are not the only ones for whom the chest is important—it affects men’s physical and mental well-being as well. Some men develop disproportionately large breasts, giving them a more feminine appearance; this may be due to (hormone-related) enlargement of the mammary glands (gynecomastia) or excess fat deposits (known as pseudogynecomastia or lipomastia). Gynecomastia surgery and/or liposuction can be used to give the chest a more masculine shape.
