Buttock enhancement (Butt Lift) in Zug

Targeted exercises, a balanced diet, and massage are just a few of the many tips and tricks floating around for those seeking a shapely, sculpted butt. Unfortunately, however, they are not always enough to provide the desired results. Some people are simply genetically predisposed to a flat backside. Others lose tone and volume as they age, or as a result of having lost a great deal of weight. Modern cosmetic surgery offers several methods of correcting these issues. Implants are one way of giving your butt the shape and size you want. Another, significantly gentler method of buttock augmentation is lipofilling (or lipomodeling).

I have come to specialize in procedures using autologous fat. Lipofilling allows me to sculpt and shape the butt without needing to use foreign objects, so it provides very natural-looking results and rarely leaves scars.

Liposuction can also be used to create a smooth, beautiful transition to the buttocks, for example by permanently reducing fat deposits on the flanks or the lower back. This makes the bottom look rounder and more shapely despite remaining essentially unchanged. Which procedures and methods will deliver the desired results depends on your individual circumstances. I would be happy to advise you on the topic of buttock augmentation and sculpting.

Consultation and planning

Every procedure I do at my clinic is contingent upon thorough, honest consultation. Before your buttock augmentation, I want to hear from you personally about what bothers you about your appearance and what changes you would like to see. Once I know that, I will tell you about the options and techniques available to you. I have had exceptionally good experiences with autologous fat augmentation, and have trained under international specialists in this field. I would be glad to explain the methods to you in detail, and together we will develop your individual treatment concept. As part of that process, I will go into pre- and post-surgical care and any potential risks involved. Once you know the details of the operation, you can make an informed decision about whether to proceed. Of course, I will be happy to answer any questions you may have along the way.

Butt implants

Special silicone implants can be used to change the size and shape of the bottom. These implants result in a particularly round butt. The incision runs along the natural gluteal cleft, at the transition to the thigh. I create a kind of pocket within the tissue and then insert the implant securely using the “no-touch” technique, which minimizes the risk of infections due to skin bacteria.

Depending on your individual anatomy and the results you desire, the implants can be placed either within the gluteal muscles (intramuscular) or beneath them (submuscular). As with breast implants, butt implants are filled with a highly crosslinked silicone gel designed to minimize the risk of leakage. Besides adding volume, the implants also create a lifting effect.

Contouring and lifting with autologous fat

A more gentle alternative to implant surgery is autologous fat contouring. For this method, I use thin cannulas to inject the fat into the buttocks area, augmenting and shaping it proportionally. Since the material used comes from your own body, there is practically no risk of allergies or rejection reactions. The fat heals into the surrounding tissue, providing a permanent increase in volume. The results look natural and feel soft. Another advantage is that no incisions are required—the fat is injected using extremely fine needles.

I harvest the necessary fat cells from a suitable donor region (such as the stomach, the thighs, or the hips) using liposuction. The fat then undergoes special processing to prepare it for injection into the buttocks.

The individual treatment steps (harvesting, preparation and injection) take a total of three to five hours, depending on the patient’s initial situation and desired results.

What is a Brazilian butt lift?

Many people refer to “Brazilian butt lifts” in connection with buttock augmentation procedures. The Brazilian butt lift (or BBL) is another name for autologous fat grafting (lipofilling) on the buttocks. As described above, fat is first harvested using liposuction and then specially processed before being used to plump the buttocks and tighten the skin.

Advantages of the autologous fat method:

  • Natural materials
  • Out-patient procedure
  • Ideal for contouring
  • No danger of capsular constructure (tissue hardening around a foreign object such as an implant)
  • Natural look and feel
  • Shorter recovery period than implant surgery
  • No scars on the buttocks—if anything, minimal scarring at harvest locations
  • Benefits overall skin quality

Follow-up care

Post-operative recovery and care

After undergoing buttocks enhancement (whether with implants or autologous fat), focus on taking it easy—avoid physically strenuous activities for about two weeks. You should sleep on your stomach if you can, and spend as little time sitting as possible in order to avoid putting weight on your buttocks. You can resume sports and exercise after four to six weeks.

Most lipofilling patients are able to return home the day of the procedure; after undergoing implant surgery, on the other hand, we recommend remaining at the clinic for one to two nights. Wearing a special compression girdle for the first six weeks helps ensure optimum final results, which will be visible after around five months.

On buttocks enhancements using autologous fat (Brazilian butt lifts), some of the transplanted fat may fail to heal into the surrounding tissue, resulting in the body breaking it down naturally. In such cases, it may be advisable to perform a second round of treatment to create the desired results.

Risks

Potential risks of buttock enhancement

When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, the risks of these procedures are minimal. Lipofilling, in particular, is a comparatively gentle method of contouring and toning the body. Your butt may be swollen for the first few weeks, and slight bruising is possible as well. Feelings of tightness or numbness are possible, but uncommon. In rare cases, patients may experience surgical complications such as wound healing issues, bleeding, infections, or visible scars.
